Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believed Saturday’s 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers came by way of a ‘professional performance’ from the O’s.

Goals from Kevin Lisbie and Chris Dagnall saw Slade’s side over the line against the relegation-threatened Rovers at the weekend and move on to 83 points in the process – a best-ever points tally for the club.

And all in all, Slade was delighted to get back to winning ways following successive defeats against Crawley and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“I think the win is a psychological boost and I think it is another record as well,” said Slade.

“Eighty-three points is the most points a Leyton Orient side have taken in any season so that’s a tremendous monumental effort by the players and again it was another professional performance.”

Lisbie’s goal a minute before half time put them in front in a dominant showing from the hosts.

Tranmere changed tact at the start of the second period, and that slightly stifled the O’s until Dagnall pounced on goalkeeper Owain Fon-Williams’ fluffed clearance 13 minutes from time for his third goal in four games.

“The goal was taken very well and we started the game so well that they had to change their shape to five in midfield and one up front,” added Slade.

“It was a different challenge then because they stayed behind the ball and made life difficult for us to break down and that’s something we have got to learn from.

“More importantly we got the goal before half time, from a set play and it’s a great finish from Chris, he’s in good form. That’s three goals in four games and he’s an important member of the squad. It was a fantastic finish to wrap the game up.”
