Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade with continue in his role as manager after talks held with the O’s hierarchy following last night’s 1-1 draw at Notts County

The O’s chief had initially been told after Saturday’s 2-0 home defeat to Colchester United that it would be curtains if he didn’t get a win at Notts County.

However, the O’s were only able to draw 1-1 after Chris Dagnall’s second half penalty cancelled out Zeli Ismail’s strike from the spot in the first period.

A meeting took place at Meadow Lane after the game, where it was agreed by owner and chairman Francesco Becchetti that Slade would stay in his job for now.

“We carry on as things stand,” said Slade.

“There was a frank and honest exchange and discussion with the President Francesco Becchetti, Sporting Director Mauro Milanese and Chief Executive Alessandro Angelieri and with a plan to go forward, which still involves me at this moment in time.

“I think going forward, communication is going to be key over the coming weeks.

“It was a very honest discussion. I’m an honest man and I say what I think and what I believe in.

“The President is a passionate man and says what he thinks and believes in so we have to find that common ground in terms of a way we go forward.”

Immediately after the game a different picture was painted, with Slade still unsure of his position, saying: “Mauro’s come down and made contact with me so I really don’t know the outcome.

“Certainly what I don’t want to live with is ultimatums. I don’t think that’s the right way. I don’t think that’s the professional way forward for any football club and any manager.

“The president I don’t think is too happy. He wants to talk to me and we will see where those talks leave us.”
