Leyton Orient make the short trip to Colchester United on Saturday for what striker David Mooney believes is a massive game for the O’s.

Colchester sit just two points below Fabio Liverani’s side in the League One table going into the fixture.

And the 30-year-old frontman is keen to inflict further woe on one of his former sides this weekend.

“It’s massive,” said Irishman Mooney.

“Tony Humes is doing a good job there. I know they are still down the bottom, but they play a certain way and bring through youth players, so it is going to be tough.

“It is also our closest game and a local derby so it should be good and hopefully we can get the three points.

“I scored twice against them last year as well so hopefully I can get on the scoresheet again.”

The O’s will also be hoping for revenge following their 2-0 home loss to 10-man U’s back in September.

“That’s one of the games where we got them down to 10 men early on and never pushed home our advantage, but it is going to be a tough game,” added Mooney.

Orient were without 10 first-team players for the 2-2 draw at Preston last Friday, and it remains a race against time whether any will return for this weekend.

But new loan signings Neal Eardley and Ryan Hedges should be available to boss Fabio Liverani.
