Winger Moses Odubajo has joined newly-promoted Championship outfit Brentford on three-year deal.

The 20-year-old excelled for the O’s during their League One campaign last season, scoring 12 goals, including one in both the play-off semi-final first leg at Peterborough United and in the play-off final defeat to Rotherham United.

And that will be his last act in an O’s shirt having agreed a deal at their former League One rivals for a fee believed to match the £1 million record received from Fulham for Gabriel Zakuani back in 2006, while add ons and a sell-on fee are also attached.

A Leyton Orient club statement read: “The club have agreed a deal with Championship side Brentford for the sale of Moses Odubajo.

“Odubajo, a product of the Orient academy, will join the Bees for an undisclosed fee from July 1. The 20-year-old leaves the O’s having made 116 appearances and scored 16 goals, including 12 goals in 57 appearances last season.

“Odubajo had a year remaining on his current contract and attracted interest from numerous Championship clubs. The club would like to wish Moses well for his future career.”

It is thought that Odubajo expressed a desire to leave the O’s, with speculation increasing even more so as to a potential move away from Brisbane Road.

A number of clubs were believed to have expressed an interest in the winger, who only had another year left to run on his contract, but Brentford were the most serious and offered the highest fee.

Brentford boss Mark Warbuton expressed his delight at acquiring the services of Odubajo.

“We are delighted to welcome Moses to the club. He is a player we have been looking at for the past few months,” said Warbuton on Brentford’s official website.

“We have been very impressed with his quality and his consistency. Moses is a young player, not yet 21, with a lot of development potential.

“He has excellent physical abilities and a real desire to move forward in the game. I am delighted to secure his signature and I am sure he will prove to be an exciting addition to our squad.

“I would like to thank [Brentford Sporting Director] Frank McParland for all his work in getting this deal done.”
