Leyton Orient’s winless run at Brisbane Road was extended further after a goalless draw against MK Dons, but ended with 10 men after Mathieu Baudry’s late sending-off.

An action-packed first half saw both goalkeepers in top form, but the second was less eventful and a draw was probably a fair result.

Interim manager Kevin Nugent made two changes from the side which drew 2-2 at Sheffield United with Mathieu Baudry returning from injury to replace Elliot Omozusi, while Shaun Batt also came in for his first league start at the expense of the suspended Jobi McAnuff.

It was the visitors who started brightly as O’s goalkeeper Gary Woods was forced to come out and deny Daniel Powell after two minutes when he broke clear of the home defence, before Clarke repeated the feat a minute later.

Orient forced their first corner of the game when a lovely ball through from Bradley Pritchard found Simpson and his ball was put behind.

It was much better from the hosts but they had Woods to thank on 21 minutes after he firstly made a great save to deny Mark Randall from 25 yards.

The rebound fell to the onrushing Benik Afobe but the Arsenal loanee saw his shot expertly deflected on to the bar by the O’s stopper.

Orient began to get into the game after that though and a Jack Price corner was headed goalwards by Simpson at the back post but the effort was deflected behind for another corner.

The resulting set piece was then cleared by the Dons to Shane Lowry from 40 yards and the former Millwall man tried his luck.

It was a great effort from Lowry and it produced an equally good save from Martin.

O’s would end the half on top and a lovely cross field ball from Price found Batt as the hosts broke quickly from an MK Dons corner.

However, with just Martin to beat, Batt fired straight at the keeper as the game remained goalless.

Pritchard was the next to try his luck and though his shot was blocked it fell kindly for Darius Henderson and his first-time effort was well parried behind by Martin once again.

The second half was nowhere near as eventful as the first, with both sides making hard work of it.

Chances were few and far between as the nearest the O’s came was a fluffed effort from Simpson but Martin easily gathered, while Gary Woods was a spectator for much of it.

The game continued to produce little goalmouth action in the second period but Simpson went closest against for the hosts when his 25-yard free-kick went narrowly over the bar with Martin at full stretch.

Set pieces were proving to be the best chances and MK Dons’ Kyle McFadzean headed over from a corner seven minutes from time

The visitors mounted some late pressure with a couple of free-kicks, while there was a flurry of late bookings could prove costly for the O’s as skipper Clarke picked up his fifth booking of the season, while Baudry saw red for two needless fouls in a matter of minutes.

That meant both were out for Tuesday’s trip to Doncaster Rovers and while O’s hung on for the point that could mean interim boss Nugent is forced into the loan market before the trip to Yorkshire.
