Striker believes O’s can start to climb the table

Orient head for Carlisle United at the weekend and fit again striker Kevin Lisbie believes the club can start to climb the table as they look to record their third win in eight days.

The 34-year-old emerged as the goalscoring hero when he netted twice in the 2-1 win against Shrewsbury Town last Saturday and came on as a substitute to help O’s beat Gloucester City and book an FA Cup second round place on Wednesday night.

“Hopefully now we can kick on and start climbing the table,” said Lisbie, who made his first start in eight games against Shrewsbury following a hamstring injury, and the much-travelled forward is delighted to be back in action.

Although it has been a frustrating time for Orient and their striker, Lisbie hopes to turn the injury lay-off into a positive.

“One good thing about getting injured is that it gives you that hunger again to get back out there and hopefully it will spur me on to get more goals,” he said.

After Wednesday’s trip to Gloucester City, the O’s face their longest journey of the season to Carlisle United tomorrow and then travel to Portsmouth next Tuesday.

But after a spell on the sidelines, long journeys are the least of Lisbie’s worries: “I’ve got a few DVDs now. We have got a bit of travelling to do, but that’s all part of being a footballer.

“You miss it when you are not doing it anymore, so you put your head down and get on with it,” he said.
