Leyton Orient boss Slade wary of ‘dangerous’ Colchester

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade believes Colchester United are a ‘dangerous’ side as they prepare for tomorrow’s clash against Colchester United

The U’s come to east London off the back of a goalless draw against Walsall, having replaced former boss Joey Dunne with Tony Humes.

And that factor alone makes Slade feel Colchester are ‘dangerous’.

“More often than not you see an upturn in results in the short-term,” he added. “Colchester are a dangerous side at this moment in time.”

Orient have certainly racked up the miles early on in the season, with six away games making up the bulk of their eight fixtures.

Slade admits that has been a problem as they try to build some momentum, but has been buoyed by their showings on the road so far.

“We’ve been solid away, but it’s hard to get momentum and we need to get going with some positive results,” he said.

“We’ve played six of eight away, we’ve hardly been at home. It’s been tough. The fixtures settle down now and are a bit more regular, but we need to knock out some results.”

The O’s are currently without injured duo Dean Cox (medial knee ligament) and Lloyd James (thigh), while Romain Vincelot is out after his sending-off in the 3-2 win over Peterborough in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

Left-back Gary Sawyer will miss the match due to tendinitis, but Elliot Omozusi has returned to training after a foot injury kept him out of the Peterborough United match.

But they could include new loan signing Michael Petrasso, after the 19-year-old made a one-month loan switch to the O’s from Premier League side Queens Park Rangers.
