It’s not been good enough, says O’s midfielder.

Leyton Orient midfielder Dean Cox admits the fans have every right to be disgusted with recent results.

The O’s lost out 2-0 at Barnsley on Saturday and only goal difference separates them and bottom side Crewe Alexandra in the League One table.

Many fans voiced their frustration at both half time and full time of the defeat in Yorkshire at the weekend, which was Orient’s fourth loss in the last five games.

And Cox was the first to admit their performances have not been up to scratch so far this season following their play-off heartbreak last term.

“Obviously with where we are in the league we are feeling pretty down,” said Cox. “You heard the supporters and I think some of them left before half time so there are obviously disgusted with it and rightly so.

“It’s not been good enough. All I can say it’s been one hell of a change since I’ve been here and it’s hard to get to grips with it to be honest.

“I have got no quarrels with them going home, not at all. They pay their money, they can do what they want.

“They have supported us greatly over the last year and this season was a season where we were hopefully going to bounce back and it hasn’t happened. We are joint bottom of the division – they are hardly going to clap us off are they?”

Cox certainly wears his heart on his sleeve, and he admits the latest run of results is hard to take.

“We have had a frank discussion in the changing room and obviously it is not good enough,” he added. “Things have got to change, there’s no two ways about it.

“For the players that are here we are trying our best. It hurts me a lot and I hope it is hurting the rest. I am sure it is and we are looking to turn it around.”
