Leyton Orient boss proud of his side’s performance in the 3-2 win at Chesterfield.

Leyton Orient boss Fabio Liverani believed his side’s stoppage time winner was the ‘icing on the cake’ after an improved showing.

David Mooney had twice hauled the O’s level after Jay O’Shea’s penalty and Elliot Omozusi’s unfortunate own goal.

And the manager was delighted with the never-say-die spirit of his side to take all three points when Dean Cox stabbed home a winner after Chesterfield keeper Tommy Lee spilt a Marvin Bartley cross.

“I am very proud and pleased with the performance as much as I was against Notts County on Tuesday, but unfortunately the result wasn’t right at that time,” said Liverani via a translator.

“This time the result was good and psychologically the result is very good because every 50/50 situation had gone against us. It was difficult for the players to accept, but finally it was on our side.

“It seemed to be another episode where everything went wrong and they didn’t deserve to come off the pitch with another loss and the last minute goal is the icing on the cake. Hopefully it gives the players confidence going forward.”
