Leyton Orient could be relegated from League One on Saturday and on-loan goalkeeper Alex Cisak insists they have no excuses now, they must pick up three points against Sheffield United.

Fabio Liverani’s men currently sit fourth from bottom, following Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Rochdale and trail Crewe Alexandra by two points with just two fixtures remaining this year.

If Crewe win at Coventry on Saturday and 19th-placed Crawley pick up a point at Peterborough, Orient could go down unless they beat the Blades at Brisbane Road.

Orient’s players still believe they can stay up, but they need to triumph this weekend.

“Of course we believe,” said Cisak. “You can’t just give up even though it isn’t in our hands.

“We need to play Sheffield United and pick up three points. All we can do is work hard in training and go into Saturday with a positive mind. Hopefully results go our way as well.

“Everyone was very disappointed after Rochdale and it was quiet in the changing room.

“We don’t have any excuses now, we just have to perform and get the three points.”

Italian boss Liverani also believes his players can still avoid relegation, despite it looking a tall order. He insists they have the quality to stay up, but acknowledged they are ‘unpredictable’.

“We have two games to go and we have to try and do our best and come out of this situation,” added Liverani.

“This team has the qualities to win both games. In games we are used to periods of lows and periods of highs.

“We are used to good performances after bad performances and bad performances after good performances so we are quite an unpredictable team. But I believe in the players and I think we have the quality to win both our games, so we will see.”

What division O’s will be plying their trade in next season may still remain unknown, and the same could be said for Cisak too.

The 25-year-old has been a key player for Liverani since signing in February on loan from Burnley.

He has another year left on his contract at Turf Moor, and isn’t sure what the future holds.

Cisak added: “I just want to be playing games, it doesn’t matter what level really.

“Obviously I want to go back to Burnley and be playing games there. But I just want to be playing matches because that is best for my development and I’m still quite young for a goalkeeper.

“I’ve got no idea about the chances of me being at Brisbane Road next season and I’m taking it one game at a time really. My main goal is just to help the club stay up and we will go from there.”

If O’s do somehow stay up, Cisak would have played his part.
