Leyton Orient caretaker boss Kevin Nugent feels two home defeats may have placed doubt in the minds of the club hierarchy as to whether he is suitbale for the head coach role.

Nugent picked up his first win since taking over on a short-term basis with a 2-0 success in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy second round tonight against Dagenham & Redbridge thanks to a brace from Jay Simpson.

And the 45-year-old still believes he has been offered the role despite sporting director Mauro Milanese saying otherwise following Saturday’s home loss to Swindon Town.

There has also been a period of time since Nugent confirmed he had been offered the position, and while he’s never stalled on it from his point of view, he feels results and performance may have changed the mind of Orient’s Italian owner and chairman Francesco Becchetti.

“There is nothing particularly stalling it,” said Nugent. “We have lost two games at home and I have been in charge of them.

“They have been poor defeats so I understand maybe someone will think ‘Oh that’s not the one’.

“I can understand that but all I want to make sure is that while I am in charge that the players are getting looked after and everyone knows that I want to make sure that Leyton Orient is in safe hands. I am happy to be doing what I am doing.

He added: “I have been offered the role and that has never been any different.”

“Whether that head coach role has changed or the parameters of the actual job have changed I don’t know anything about that, but we’ll wait and see.”

Having a brand new kitchen is something that lots of people want but can only dream of. Sadly keeping up to date and making our living spaces as nice as they can be is a costly and incredibly stressful business. Even a fresh coat of paint makes all the difference but isn’t easy or quick.
