Event takes place two days after Christmas

East Ham Active are organising a range of free Sport England funded activities, including Walking Football, on Friday December 27 at Flanders Field in Napier Road.

The event takes place between 11:00am - 1:00pm with the aim to encourage the local community to become active, or more active.

Officially launched by Olympic 100m sprinter Donovan Reid in November, East Ham Active is a joint project between Bonny Downs Community Association and the Renewal Programme.

Activities will be held in welcoming community venues and are designed to support beginners, as well as those who need encouragement to get active again.

Walking football is perfect for people of all abilities and fitness levels and it has been very popular amongst those who have already tried it.

Mark Blythe, East Ham Active’s Sports Coordinator, believes anybody can get involved in the event.

He said: “Hopefully this will be something for all tastes, ages and levels of expertise who can attend, become healthier and meet new friends.”
