There was FA Cup heartache for Sporting Bengal United and Tower Hamlets at the weekend.

But Clapton came from behind to earn an extra preliminary round replay at Bowers to keep their dream alive.

Sporting played host to FC Clacton at Mile End Stadium on Saturday, having lost to the seasiders on the Essex coast at the same stage last season.

And history repeated itself, as Clacton claimed a 2-1 win to knock them out again and pocket the £1,500 prize money.

Prince Pippin put the home side ahead inside the first minute, but Aaron Condon levelled from the penalty spot before half time.

And Condon popped up with the winner with two minutes remaining to earn Clacton a preliminary round meeting with Takeley or London Tigers, who drew 2-2.

Tower Hamlets played host to Felixstowe & Walton United yesterday, but one goal proved enough to send the visitors through.

Clapton fell behind against Essex Senior League rivals Bowers, as Lewis Manor slotted home at the Old Spotted Dog.

But Tons produced a strong second-half performance to deservedly draw level and earn a trip to the Len Salmon Stadium tomorrow.

As a result, their scheduled league fixture with local rivals Newham has been postponed, leaving Zakir Hussain’s side to kick their heels for a bit longer before beginning their campaign.
