Essex Senior League: Clapton 3 Barkingside 2

Clapton grabbed an injury time winner to end their winless run as they sealed a 3-2 victory against Barkingside at the Old Spotted Dog.

The Tons dominated the first-half but went into the half-time break a goal behind following a neat finish from the visitors.

Early in the second-half the hosts were back on level terms, thanks to some great work from Jeffrey Cobblah, who teed up on loan Kai Bichard to make it 1-1.

Clapton saw a Sardinha penalty saved but after the hosts were awarded another spot kick, Sardinha made no mistake to put his side 2-1 up.

However it looked like an ex-Tons player would deny the Tons a deserved win when James Briggs curled home a free kick late on, but Cobblah then struck in injury time winner to make sure the hosts took all three points.

Jonny Fowell’s remain in sixth spot, while Side remain 15th in the Essex Senior League.

Clapton will not play until Tuesday evening as they face in the Gordon Brasted Memorial Trophy.

Barkingside will travel to Mayesbrook Park to face mid-table West Essex in league action on Saturday.
