Clapton assistant manager Wayne Seal is looking forward to facing his former club Ilford this weekend.

The Tons host the Foxes at the Old Spotted Dog on Saturday (3pm) as they look to get their season back on track after up-and-down form of late.

Seal is keen to come up against his old colleague Allan Fenn in a dug-out battle and revealed he has lots of respect for Ilford’s manager.

“It will be good to see ‘Fenny’. He is someone I look up to as he knows the game, but for 90 minutes we will be up against each other and then after I’m sure we’ll go have a beer together,” he said.

“Ilford is my previous club from last season so I know ‘Fenny’ and the club really well.”

Seal praised his former club for their ambitions despite their mixed start to the Essex Senior League campaign.

“They’ve had some change in ownership and on the board and are a club with goals and objections they want to meet,” he added.

“I know ‘Fenny’ wants to get Ilford back into the Bostik North and I know from all of his teams that they will be organised and competitive.”

The former Witham Town man believes it will be a great game to watch and that his side will have to watch out for Foxes striker James Peagram who has already netted 20 times this season.

“It’s a derby and they will be fired up for it much like us, so it will be a very good game, which I’m really looking forward to,” he said.

“I know they’ve got James Peagram who is Mr Goals!

“Last season he was at Barking and his goal tally was extremely impressive and he’s already scored loads this season.”

Khadean Campbell will be lining up for Clapton against his former club on Saturday and Seal revealed his addition will be a huge boost to the squad.

Seal said: “I spoke to ‘Fenny’ a few weeks ago about the availability of Khadean Campbell, who has since joined us and he is a great addition for us and I know Allan will be gutted to have lost him.”

The Tons will also hope to have their goalkeeping situation resolved, after debutant Nicholas Hall was injured in the 3-2 loss at FC Romania last weekend.
