AC Milano won their third trophy in two years with a 4-0 success over Eva Hart in the Essex Combination Morfey Cup final at Aveley.

Philip Brown opened the scoring with a good right-footed finish and Andy Adomakoh doubled the lead when following up his earlier shot that came back off the crossbar.

Eva Hart looked to reply but were kept at bay by dogged defending by Milano, who claimed their third goal before half time when Yasir Rashid was brought down in the box and he got up to convert the penalty.

Despite their 3-0 lead, Milano came under pressure after the restart and Eva Hart had a good chance to hit back when their forward raced through on goal, but a superb last-ditch sliding tackle by Naeem Patel denied them.

Milano missed more chances at the other end as poor finishing let them down, with Rashid guilty of spurning two good opportunities to compelte a hat-trick.

A fourth and final goal did arrive, though, when Abdul Adegbola ran through from midfield and beat the last defender with an excellent step over, before firing a left-footed shot into the top corner of the net.

The game ended with both sides down to 10 men after two red cards were shown, but Milano were deserving winners and celebrated with their supporters after the final whistle.

Chairman Siraz Khankhara said: “It is another good season where we have won a trophy. After missing out on the London Cup, where we lost in the final, this was a must-win for us as we couldn’t go a season empty-handed!

“Manager Khalid Pervaiz has done another great job here at this club. After doing the double last season he has taken this AC Milano team to London Cup Final runners-up and winners of the Morfey Cup.

“It was a great performance from the lads. Every one of them was superb by playing some great football.

“What was needed at this club were trophies and getting three in two seasons is not bad. I’m looking forward to next season where I want more and with this management and players I know we can win more silverware.

“Thank You to Khalid and the players for their hard work throughout the season and also the supporters who turned up to watch.”
