Teagan Williams-Stewart of Newham Swords (below) made history by finishing in the top 10 at the Manchester International under-17 tournament — despite being just 13!

Williams-Stewart recorded the third-best result for a GB fencer at the event having come through the first stage winning all her matches and the following two rounds, before being beaten by Romanian who was two years older than her.

“This is an incredible result for someone aged just thirteen and who has only been fencing for just two years”, said Swords manager Linda Strachan.

It is the latest success for Williams-Stewart, who took gold at the Camden Leon Paul Junior event earlier this month.

The 13-year-old has also been selected to compete for Great Britain at the under-17 international taking place in Austria and France in November and December, making Williams-Stewart the youngest ever fencer to be called up to the squad.
