Rugged welterweight Lee Purdy, who trains at manager Tony Sims’ Hainault gym, gets to boost his international ranking when he defends his IBF international belt on the Matchroom London bill in December.

He puts the title at stake against tough American Carson Jones on a London promotion planned by Matchroom boss Eddie Hearn, which is scheduled to feature boxers from the Sims camp.

Carson recently gave Sheffield star Kell Brook the hardest fight of his career, before losing a tight verdict when they clashed for the IBF International title in July.

The Sheffield boxer promptly vacated the strap as he is seeking a world title chance, allowing Purdy (pictured above) to step up and beat Argentinian Gumersindo Carrasco in September.

Jones is ranked number seven with the IBF and his scalp would certainly be another boost for Purdy, who upset dangerman Carrasco inside four rounds at Alexandra Palace.
