Something old something new, could be the theme for new promoter Miranda Carter’s opening show of the season at York Hall on Sunday, the fourth bill in just 16 days at Britain’s busiest boxing venue.

Peacock gym-based West Hammer Mickey Coveney, whose pro career goes back a dozen years, looks to end a four-fight losing run when he faces Kinshasa-born Elvis Makoda.

Two other familiar fight-anywhere campaigners in action are Johnny Greaves and Duncan Cottier, a pair with total career bouts topping 170 contests.

However, there are new faces on the bill including former England amateur light-heavyweight Michael Evans who enjoyed success at the Repton BC and is booked for his pro start on the show that also features Matt McCarthy, Brett O’Callaghan and Menay Edwards.

Also lined up for Sunday afternoon action at York Hall are Bobby George, George Jupp and female boxer Lana Cooper who faces Greek rival Areti Mastrodouka.
