Newham Boxing Club’s Johnny Coyle ended the amateur boxing season with a trophy triumph – and is already aiming to start the new season the same way in October.
For the 18-year-old Coyle clinched his latest award at the Haringey Box Cup in June, with three impressive victories – including a local derby final win over West Ham’s Liam Desmond, which earned him the youth 71kg gold medal and a special award as the best youth boxer at the three-day tournament.
Coyle has already set his sights on success in the NACYP championship chase, for that is one trophy that has eluded him after success in the Junior ABA’s and National Schools’ Championships.
“It would be good to get that Boys Clubs national trophy to complete the list” admitted the boxer who has enjoyed a title studded career at the Newham club.
