The end of the amateur season was marked by the Fight for Peace ABC in North Woolwich with an awards ceremony at their gym – where the special guest was former Commonwealth middleweight champion Michael Watson.
The end of the amateur season was marked by the Fight for Peace ABC in North Woolwich with an awards ceremony at their gym – where the special guest was former Commonwealth middleweight champion Michael Watson.
The ever-popular Watson mingled with the members and answered questions from Fight for Peace project manager Marigold Ride at the Woodman Street gym, where the new club celebrated a successful season with 10 boxers in action.
Worthy winner of the Boxer-of-the-Year award was lightweight Ryan Walker, who has maintained a steady improvement over the season, showing commendable effort and dedication.
Boxers in action this season included Khalid Hakimi, who travels from Hounslow to attend training sessions, and Jonathon Muhamba, who works part-time at the project.
Novice Fawad Sherzad was awarded a certificate in recognition of his fund-raising efforts during the year.
