World champion Christine Ohuruogu is to compete at this month’s Great North CityGames, organisers have announced.
Fresh from winning gold in the 400 metres in Moscow in August, the 29-year-old Newham & Essex Beagle is to race over 150m in Newcastle/Gateshead on September 14.
Her outing will come at the end of a season which yielded two medals in Moscow, with a bronze in the 4x400m also added to her resume.
“After her displays in Moscow I’m sure she will receive a tremendous welcome from the home crowd on the Gateshead Quayside,” said the event’s general manager, Pete Riley.
The Great North CityGames serves as a prelude to the Great North Run which will this year feature double Olympic and world champion Mo Farah.
