Woodford Green with Essex Ladies hurdler bows out in the semi-final
Tiffany Porter missed out on a place in the women’s 100 metres hurdles final after placing fourth in her semi-final – narrowly missing out on a fastest loser spot.
Running in lane eight of heat two alongside World and Commonwealth champion Sally Pearson of Australia, Porter got a slow start out of the blocks.
And the Woodford Green with Essex Ladies athlete simply could not catch a high class field, which included World indoor champion Lolo Jones.
Porter finished in 12.79 seconds and will consequently not compete in the final scheduled for 9.00pm tonight where Pearson will be expected to improve on her silver medal from Beijing 2008 by taking the title.
Mark Pettini kept his cool to see Essex to their second LV= County Championship Division Two victory of the season by beating Glamorgan by five wickets with seven balls to spare at Cardiff.
