Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake and Adam Gemili helped Great Britain’s men book a place in the final of the 4x100m relay at the World Championships at London Stadium.

CJ Ujah led the quartet off, before handing the baton to former University of East London student Adam Gemili, who then passed it to Danny Talbot.

And Newham & Essex Beagles Mitchell-Blake, having finished fourth in the men’s 200m final, eased off on the anchor leg to bring the Brits home in second place behind the United States, who won in 37.69 seconds.

Gemili said: “We really want a medal but it is the 16 best teams in the world all after a medal so we know it will be tough.

“The crowd will help and this has helped put us in pole position. We are very lucky to have this crowd here in London.”

Talbot added: “We did what we needed to do. There is great talent in this team. But this is just the first round. The pressure comes in the later rounds.”

Ujah said: “The pressure comes now. We just want to win. We have no doubts that it’ll be tough.”
