Newham & Essex Beagle Mo Farah capped off a fantastic year with victory in the two-mile race at the Great North City Games over the weekend.
The double Olympic champion had opted not to participate in the Great North run on Sunday but eased to the win in a time of eight minutes 40.04 seconds after spending much of the race on the shoulder of Australian Collis Birmingham.
And now the 29-year-old revealed his intentions of taking a short break from the sport.
“He (Collis Birmingham) dug in, that was tough,” said Farah. “It’s been hard work since the Olympics, but the run in front of the home fans was one to enjoy.
“I won’t be thinking about running over the next two weeks.
“I will go out for a couple of meals with my friends and family. It’s important that I enjoy it and take a break and take my mind off running.”
