Susanna Banjo was one of very few bright sparks for the Newham & Essex Beagles women in the Women’s Athletics League Division One meeting in Leigh, Lancashire.
But her performance was not good enough for the club as they were relegated from the division after finishing 47 points behind nearest rivals Victoria Park, City of Glasgow.
Banjo picked up victory in the B 100m race in a time of 12.52 seconds, and was part of 4x100m relay squad of Tope Nuga, Temi Erinoso and Kara Graham which were just edged out by .03 of a second to Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers.
The only other positive from the meeting was the win for Liliana Da Silva in the A discus after a throw of 53.90m.
Creditable
Other creditable performance came with third places for Kirsty Smith and Rochelle Jones in the B long and triple jump respectively.
Holly Thomas also took third in the A 100m hurdles, while there were a string of fourth places for Banjo in the A 200m, Leigh Lennon in the A 800m and Graham in the B 200m.
Eleven new champions were crowned at the North East London ABA Divisional championships at Dagenham on Thursday night, but Fairbairn BC entry Yaqobzai Isrurulla must wait until tonight (Thursday) to see if he joins them.
