Amy Marren saw her hopes of a third successive final appearance at the Paralympic Games were shattered today.

Hornchurch youngster Marren, 14, missed out in the S9 women’s 50m freestyle after finishing sixth in her heat in 31.02secs.

Newham-born Marren had finished fifth in the 100m backstroke final and fourth in the 400m freestyle last night, but could not complete a hat-trick at the Aquatic Centre.

The Hall Mead pupil saw Australian Ellie Cole win her race in 29.75secs, ahead of Russian Irina Grazhdanova and Natalie du Toit, of South Africa.

Great Britain’s Louise Watkin won the second heat in 29.35 to qualify fastest for tonight’s final, but Marren will have to watch from the stands and start counting down to the 2016 Games in Rio.
