Parents' anger at phone mast
12 April 2005
The controversial masts close to Kingsford School in Beckton
WORRIED parents say they were kept in the dark over a mobile phone mast that was erected close to a Beckton school.
Residents living near Kingsford Community School in Kingsford Way were angry to learn that a mast - the third on the site - went up over Easter in the grounds of nearby East London Gymnastic Centre in Frobisher Road. The land is owned by Newham Council.
There are widespread health concerns over phone masts, with such developments being opposed across the country.
Full story by Kay Atwal can be read in this week's Recorder.
