Scam at Morrisons car park

PUBLISHED: 17:32 26 July 2017

I have held a blue badge disability parking permit for many years now and have regularly displayed it when shopping at Morrisons in Stratford which has always been free to disabled shoppers. The pass also gives free parking for up to 3 hours.O n 13th October I shopped at Morrisons parked in a disabled bay and displaying my valid badge only to receive a parking fine on Tues 26th October stating that they have photographic evidence of my offence.. but they never sent me any photographs.I spoke to varoius friends and co drivers who said that company are a scam and ignore the fine as it is not valid at all and certainly not minus a photo.Feeling angry and confused about this I went to Morrisons and spoke to customer services asking when these new parking charges were instigated and was told during the past few weeks..I told them that there was no publicity about this disabled people now have to pay ruling and was told i coukld speak to the manager but must bring my blue badge in as proof. When I returned to customer services I met three other customers telling the same story all wanting the fines cancelled . Also the letter I received says that if i pay before Sunday 30th the amount would be reduced but how can a disabled pensioner find the money and get it sent out in such a short time when the so called offence happened 13 days ago .I have also been on Watchdog internet and they have many other reports of this same company doing similar things in other branches of Morrisons.I feel all Newham Recorder readers should be made aware of this scam so they dont fall foul of it,,if they do get a fine ignore it as all the information i have confirms this as a scam as for Morrisons get your act together or you will be losing customers and your reputation.I now have my "fine" cancelled and my letter and information has joined the pile of similar complaints seen sitting on the desk behind customer services counter.Beware!!
