Unions are to go back to the discussion table tomorrow as commuters this morning face a second day of travel problems.

RMT and TSSA unions will sit down tomorrow with transport bosses and try to end the dispute over reforms to the London Underground service.

The unions are unhappy with modernisation plans that include removing staff from ticketing offices across the network.

The service is expected to go back to normal on Friday morning, but a second two-and-a-half-day strike is planned begin on Tuesday, February 11, at 9.30pm.

Commuters across Newham have suffered two days of travel woes, with some stations being closed and others, such as Stratford, bearing the brunt of thousands who have had to find alternative routes.

An Acas spokesperson said: “The parties in the London Underground dispute have agreed to come in and continue exploratory talks at Acas this Friday.”
