Wheelchair sports in east London has received a £20,000 boost in the wake of last summer’s Paralympics.
The cash for the University of East London’s ‘Chairs in the Community’ project from the Unite student accommodation group is for extra wheelchairs to help more people take part in disability sports such as badminton, tennis and basketball. The scheme started two years ago has so far helped 1,600 disabled take part in sports.
