Londoners have been responding with mixed views to today’s bus strike across the capital.

Unite union members walked out for 24 hours this morning in a dispute over a bonus payment for bus workers on duty during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The union wants all bus workers in London to be paid a £500 bonus for working during London 2012.

Bus users have taken to Twitter to talk about the strike, with some in support of the workers and others unhappy their journeys have been disrupted.

Twitter user The Alphabet tweeted: “As a Londoner whose journey in will be twice as long today, I support the #busstrike. An injury to one is an injury to all.”

A worker calling himself Mr Bus Driver wrote on Twitter: “The public think bus drivers are greedy, are you having a laugh! We are the transport workers with the most stress!”

Steven Davies tweeted: “TfL will make £millions in extra fares over the Olympics. Who pockets it? The suits. Should be drivers. I’m supporting the #busstrike.”

But not everyone is supportive. Amber-Kadie tweeted: “Making pregnant woman walk places doesn’t seem right. I’ve seen loads already.”

Edward Mann tweeted: “Unite pushing the ‘everyone else gets a bonus so why not bus drviers’ line. Vast majority of Londoners won’t get a bonus.”
