Bus chiefs immediately went to the High Court to seek an injunction banning tomorrow’s strike.

Officials from the Unite union and officials from 21 bus companies union spent today in talks.

On the table was a demand for bus workers to get a £500 Olympics ‘bonus.’

But a union official said this afternoon the talks had ended and the strike would go ahead.

Three bus companies asked Mr Justice Supperstone for an urgent injunction requiring Unite to withdraw the strike call and instruct their members to continue working in accordance with their contracts of employment.

Andrew Stafford QC, for Arriva, Metroline and London General, said each company had refused to award a bonus because the Games shall not involve much, if any, additional work.
