Liverpool Street Greater Anglia trains now on time—but more engineering planned

More trains are running on time into and out of Liverpool Street on the Greater Anglia network, according to latest rail industry figures.

Almost 94 per cent of trains improved punctuality for the four-week period ending January 5.

But passengers still face seven weekends of Main Line engineering disruptions from next month, Greater Anglia operators admit.

Average punctuality for the past 12 months reached 92.2 per cent for the first time since the East Anglia franchise was set up in 2004.

Metro services between Liverpool Street and Stratford, Shenfield and Southend-Victoria were 94.4 per cent on time over the 12 months. The Stansted Express reached 93.5 per cent and Main Line 91.5 per cent. The Liverpool Street to Norwich Intercity reached its best time-keeping for 12 years.

Most weekends during 2012 were also free from disruptive engineering work.

But works are still planned on Great Eastern Main Line between Liverpool Street and Colchester, Ipswich and Norwich on seven Sundays and two Saturdays in late February through March, passengers are warned.
