Plans to extend East London’s cycle superhighways have been opened up to the public for consultation.

The route currently runs from Aldgate to Bow, but under the new proposals it may be extended by almost two miles, and could run as far east as Stratford.

Improvements will also be made to 10 major junctions in a bid to improve safety for cyclists using the superhighway.

The consultation ends on February 11, and work could begin as early as Spring.

Transport for London’s director of planning Ben Plowden said: “We want residents to help us make cycling more convenient and safer by giving us their opinion at the forthcoming consultation meetings.”

Two events have now been scheduled to allow public to give their opinions on the plans. The first is at Stratford Shopping Centre on January 19, from 10am-2pm, and the second is at ViewTube in Marshgate Lane from 12pm-4pm on January 20.
