Children at a Newham hospice are set to benefit after a local business helped raise £25,000 for the charity.

Teams of workers from the Royal Docks-based company, Tate and Lyle Sugars, took over six Richard House charity shops to raise vital funds for more than 300 children and families in need.

Beckton-based Richard House put the challenge to Tate & Lyle Sugars, who have supported the charity for over a decade, to test their entrepreneur skills in the heart of the local community.

Staff set up a JustGiving fundraising web page before the event and dressed as their favourite superheroes at the Dagenham Heathway shop, while Hornchurch was invaded by monkeys and pirates sold their wares in Upminster.

Richard House provides much needed care and services to children with life-limiting, life-threatening and complex healthcare conditions and their families from London and the surrounding area.
