Tens of thousands of pop culture buffs took a pilgrimage to the ExCeL this bank holiday weekend for the UK’s largest comic book convention.

MCM Comic Con today wrapped up a packed three days of all things geek, featuring everything from films, video games, anime and steampunk.

Far removed from their solitary, basement-dwelling stereotype, fans of superhero flicks and sci-fi have proved quite the cash cow for major movie studios over the last decade. The latest film in Marvel’s Avengers franchise, released last month, has already raked more than $1.9 billion at the box office worldwide.

Monolithic entertainment brands seemed keen to continue cashing in on the nerd demographic, wheeling out a long list of stars for the event, including Black Panther’s Letitia Wright, The Defenders’ Rosario Dawson and Khary Payton and Cooper Andrews from zombie series The Walking Dead.
