Stratford attracting people from all over the world this summer but research suggests some paricularly unsavoury guests may have outstayed their welcome.
Bed bugs are booming as a study from the Institute of Biology revealed a dramatic increase in the number of bloodsucking insects infesting London’s hotels.
The pests are around 4mm long and, as adults, have developed a worrying resistance to popular pesticides.
To prevent bed bugs blighting local businesses, hotels are advised to invest in UV-C anti-bacterial light products, maintain hygiene levels - particularly in the case of fabrics - and look out for little clusters of white spots on soft furnishings.
