With Valentine’s Day just around the corner a children’s hospice wants everyone to Show a Little Love, and help it raise vital funds.
The campaign is being run by Richard House Children’s Hospice from February 10 to 16. It wants everyone to do their bit for the east London charity during the Valentine’s themed week of events by raising money and awareness.
There are so many ways you can help, from asking friends and family to sponsor you in a challenge of your choice, to organizing your own dress down day. Local primary schools will be taking part throughout Show a Little Love week, with youngsters being sponsored for reading books and tidying their rooms among other tasks.
Other ideas include Valentine’s speed dating fundraisers, or cooking a special meal and inviting friends who can donate money towards Richard House.
The charity also needs people to donate a couple of hours of their time to help with bucket collections in east and central London.
West Ham are getting behind the event, and Joe Cole, West Ham footballer and Richard House patron, said: “It’s great to be supporting this year’s Show A Little Love campaign. I hope everyone gets involved and does something good for their community, while raising money for Richard House.”
Viv Talbot, Community fundraising manager at Richard House Children’s Hospice, said: “Show a Little Love is one of our biggest campaigns on the 2014 calendar. We are hugely grateful to everyone who has already pledged to get involved and we hope to hear from more people who want to support what we know is a fantastic cause.”
The hospice is hoping this year’s efforts will raise more than £7,000 which will go towards the 300 children and young adults with life-limiting conditions who Richard House supports. If you are interested in any of these opportunities and would like to get involved please contact Emma Evans on 020 7540 0228 or email at email@example.com
In the lead up to Show a Little Love Week the hospice has launched a competition to name a huge cuddly bear. For a chance to win the bear’s slightly smaller cousin visit the Richard House Facebook page, www.facebook.com/richardhousech or tweet @RichardHouseCH using the hashtag #nameourbear
