Details collected from Olympic ticket buyers will be passed on to a third party.
Games organisers Locog say the move means millions of people will be able to hear about volunteering opportunities and upcoming sporting events.
The search for a company to hold the data will start in October.
Locog chairman Seb Coe said: “I’m delighted that we’ll be able to continue to keep the public in the loop.
“This process is all about looking for the right partner to help us build the strongest possible sporting, volunteering and cultural legacy for the long term.”
The comedian Eddie Izzard has hit out at London Mayor Boris Johnson whilst maintaining he is ready for the challenge of pursuing politics himself.
