Rumours that Sir Robin Wales will be stepping down as mayor of Newham have been confirmed as false.

In the past 24 hours, there have been various comments on social media suggesting that the long-serving mayor would soon be resigning.

But a spokesman for the mayor confirmed Sir Robin is not stepping down, and will contest the upcoming Labour open selection process should the trigger ballot result go that way.
