An ambitious chef from Mauritius is hoping to be the next Gordon Ramsay – in all but the swearing – as he launches his own restaurant.

Muhammad Ally Puttaroo, 25, launched Ghost Chilli, in Woodgrange Road, Forest Gate.

And although not so keen on all the Hell’s Kitchen star’s methods, he insists Ramsay’s perfectionism is something to aspire for.

“I’m not with him on everything, but I agree with his principles,” he explained. “You can’t get it wrong.

“You get it right first time or you start again and then get it right.”

By his own admissions a “bit of a hot head” and not particularly good at school, Muhammad, of Finsbury Park, found himself in the UK training to be a chef at the University of West London in 2005, following a family recommendation.

After 10 years working at some of the best eateries in the capital, including Masterchef judge John Torode’s Farringdon restaurant Smiths of Smithfield, he decided to open his own restaurant, which also offers takeaway and delivery.

“The most important thing to me is quality food using fresh ingredients together with top customer service,” he added.

“I’m not interested in the boring Indian food you get in Brick Lane where you have the red carpet, the waiters wearing waistcoats – that’s the old style.

“I work with modern cuisine made with quality ingredients, and I’m very concerned about health.”
