New website will help Newham residents affected by mental health issues

PUBLISHED: 11:42 01 July 2014

Newham‘s Talking Therapies service has launched a website to help people with mild to moderate mental health conditions

The service is run by East London NHS Foundation Trust who also operate three IAPT (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies) services including Newham Talking Therapies.

The website is being launched to support local people to find out more about the specialist support available to them.

The Trust’s IAPT service provides group workshops, counselling, self-help courses, computer-based therapy and a range of talking therapies to help people with a ranege of issues including anxiety, depression, issues with anger, worry, severe shyness, phobias and obsessive behaviour.

The new website provides information about different mental health difficulties, details about how to access support and services and useful links to tools and techniques to help people.

Dr Sim Roy-Chowdhury, Clinical Director for Primary Care and Specialist Psychological Services at the Trust, said: “We are pleased to be able to launch this dedicated website to enable people to find the information and support they need. Mild to moderate mental health problems can affect many people and we want them to know how to access help in order to minimise the impact on their everyday lives.”

The websites can be accessed at newhamtalkingtherapies.nhs.uk
