A mysterious dog lost in a Manor Park cemetery for a week has rather mysteriously disappeared.

The dog, thought to be a Staffordshire bull terrier crossbreed, was sighted wandering around the City of London Cemetery and Crematorium around the end of August.

The Recorder ran an appeal two weeks ago to find the owner of the light brown female after reader Alyson Maddox, from Chingford, spotted it on a visit.

But staff at the cemetery say the dog was last sighted in the early morning on Monday September 3 and it has not been seen since.

Gary Burks, superintendent and registrar at City of London Cemetery and Crematorium, said: “It was not captured by the Newham dog wardens but we do not know what happened to it and just hope that it was collected by its owner after your item in the Recorder.”
