A man escaped from a fire in North Woolwich while around twenty other people were evacuated.
An ambulance was called for the man, who was suffering from shock and smoke inhalation.
The fire, which happened in the early hours of yesterday morning, damaged part of a flat on the sixth floor of the eight floors block of flats on Gallions Road.
Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters from East Ham, Plaistow, and Silvertown fire stations were at the scene.
The Brigade was called just before 7am and the fire was under control just after 8am. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
A Muslim family are in shock after their fried chicken shop was viciously attacked last night by vengeful thugs following the murder of a soldier in Woolwich.
