Images have been released of a group of people police would like to talk to following an assault on New Year’s Day.

Do you know them? Do you know them?

The victim, a 19 year old male, was seriously assaulted at Canning Town Docklands Light Railway station at around 2.45am.

He was with three female friends when a group of around four males and four females got off a DLR train.

A verbal altercation between the victim and one of the males resulted in the victim being punched in the face.

He was hit repeatedly by the male before other members of the group joined in.

A second male repeatedly hit the victim over the head with a glass bottle causing it to break and was still kicked and punched after falling to the floor.

Officers have viewed CCTV footage and now wish to speak to the people identified in the images.

Detective Constable Eloise Lock said: “This was a violent assault that left the victim requiring hospital treatment for deep cuts to his head and face.

“If you witnessed what happened, or have key information which you think could assist officers, I’d urge you to come forward.”

Two males from Islington, aged 17 and 18, were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grevious bodily harm and bailed until Monday, 24th January.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 405040 quoting LUA/B4 of 21/01/14, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
