The area will also be busy because men’s beach volleyball will take place at Horse Guards Parade.

Transport for London (TfL) said British equestrian successes “will ensure a large home contingent head down to Greenwich Park for the final of the team dressage”, making the area around the site busy.

Wembley Stadium will host the men’s semi-final football match in the evening, meaning the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines will be busy.

The Jubilee is likely to be very busy from 4pm to 8pm, as events are taking place at Wembley, North Greenwich Arena, Greenwich Park, Excel and the Olympic Park.

Baker Street, King’s Cross and Green Park stations are among those which will be busy.

London’s Transport Commissioner, Peter Hendy, said: “As the second week of events take place across the capital we have seen records broken in both sport and people using public transport.

“Around 4.4m passengers were carried on the Tube on Friday, August 3 so it’s important that Londoners continue to plan their journeys and avoid the busiest stations at the busiest times.

“I would like to thank our passengers for taking our advice on board and helping us to support a great Games and a great summer in London.”
