Fabrice Muamba and Sir Patrick Stewart are two of the high-profile names who will be carrying the Olympic Torch in London over the coming days.
Footballer Muamba, who suffered a heart attack in front of fans and television viewers while playing for Bolton at Spurs in an FA Cup match, will be the final torchbearer in Waltham Forest tomorrow evening.
He was “dead” for 78 minutes but was saved by a team of doctors.
Also tomorrow the Flame will taken to the roof of The O2, where gymnast Nadia Comaneci and former basketball player John Amaechi will carry it.
Actor Sir Patrick Stewart is known for his Shakespearean stage work, and also played Professsor X in the X-Men films. He will carry the Flame into the lunch stop at St Andrew’s School, Croydon, on Monday.
On Tuesday the Olympic Flame will surprise commuters on a morning train where it will be carried by a London Underground staff member.
