Concert promoter Live Nation has secured the rights to hold concerts at the Olympic Stadium this year.

The company, which has previously hosted concerts for artists including Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna, will stage a series of gigs at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in 2013.

John Reid, president of concerts at Live Nation Europe, said: “We are delighted to be staging music concerts at the London Olympics venue, which last year became a globally-recognized site for outstanding performances – both in sport and music.

“Over the coming weeks, we intend to announce some major concerts with world-renowned artists, to firmly establish the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as the centerpiece for great live music in Europe.”

Live Nation has also staged events including Hard Rock Calling and Wireless and major festivals including Download and the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Dennis Hone, chief executive of the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), said: “I’m delighted that leading global companies like Live Nation are interested in the stadium and the Park.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with them this summer.

“This deal marks an important stepping stone towards securing a long-term programme of fantastic events that will make Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park a leading destination for Londoners and those who come from further afield.”
