Students at the Browning Road School who had been ‘Good Citizens’ were chosen by their Heads of Year to come to join the festivity with their parents and carers where they enjoyed delicious cakes, cups of tea and face painting under the school canapé.

Union Flags where flying and luckily the rain held off as the Diamond Jubilee brought everyone together for an afternoon of fun.

The crowd was entertained by Essex band Vibes, who played iconic pop throughout the afternoon taking requests from the audience and getting people on their feet.

Carol Stevens, pastoral achievement leader for Year Seven who organised said “It was an amazing moment of diversity, people from all backgrounds coming together showing what it means to be British, the Queen would have been proud!”

Lead singer of Vibes Alex Tower said: “It was great to help Little Ilford School celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

“We wanted to give them a perfect soundtrack to Britain – they really enjoyed it!”
